Pakistan Emergency Appeal
33 million people have been displaced and the death toll is rising!
One third of Pakistan is under water! The extreme monsoon downpours have caused unimaginable destruction, people are losing their lives at an unconceivable rate as the heavy downpours continue to wreak havoc across Pakistan. The long-term damage is evident with millions of acres of crops destroyed and hundreds of thousands of perished livestock. We must do all we can to support our brothers and sisters suffering during this time.
The floods have shattered the lives of millions! The government is issuing warnings of further life-threatening rain. The country's climate minister has declared a state of emergency, and Penny Appeal is supporting the high commission and people of Pakistan during this time of emergency and crisis. This is the worst disaster that Pakistan has ever experienced!
The southern city of Karachi, home to 16 million people, has been one of the major cities to suffer the immense impact of these extreme conditions, with homes, and entire neighbourhoods submerged in water. Buildings have been destroyed, crops have been swept away and the road and infrastructure damage has been catastrophic.
Pakistan ranks among the most vulnerable countries on the Global Climate Risk Index when it comes to extreme weather conditions, and this situation is sadly only getting worse.
